It is a comprehensive Islamic organization that embodies the essence of moderate Islam and Sufi traditions, dedicated to the cultivation of peace and unity. It ardently advocates for the dissemination of Islamic education. Guided by the esteemed leadership of His Eminence Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, MQII was founded with a resolute strategic vision aimed at advancing the principles of religious moderation, fostering harmony, nurturing love, promoting interfaith understanding, and facilitating the dissemination of contemporary Islamic knowledge.
Muslims living in India are more than those living in the neighboring countries. Upon their special invitation and request, Shaykh-ul-Islam undertook his visit to India in 1997. MQI Islamic centers have been established in Karnataka, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab. It was purely organizational and invitational tour of Shaykh-ul-Islam. He along with his delegations visited holy shrines in Delhi, Ajmer Sharif and other places. He addressed hundreds of thousands of people in Hyderabad.
Upon the requests of the Indian Muslims, he visited India in September-October 2004. This visit broke all previous records of gatherings of Minhaj-ul-Quran International. He was given red carpet welcome in Delhi and Hyderabad. He visited many holy shrines and addressed hundreds of thousands of people.
He visited India in February-March 2012 it was a month-long tour. He launched his famous Fatwa on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings and addressed mammoth public gatherings in prominent cities. Hundreds of thousands of people turned up to listen to his speeches. His audience in India was unprecedented. The subjects he spoke on during this tour included concept of intermediation in Islam, Principles of Hadith, Terrorism is alien to Islam, Enmity with Friends of Allah an open war against Allah Almighty, Islam forms a multi-faith, cosmopolitan society and several other topics. Wherever he went, people came out in millions to see his glimpse. It was a heavy downpour when audience in millions remained spell bound and did not even move.
